Why is it so dif­fi­cult for Min­is­ter of Fi­nance Win­ston Dook­er­an and Cen­tral Bank Gov­er- nor Ewart Williams to be on the same fi­nan­cial page? Don't they talk to each oth­er? How come one is say­ing there is no eco­nom­ic slump and the oth­er is say­ing there is a re­ces­sion? What is it? Who to be­lieve?

These two key fi­nan­cial play­ers are send­ing the wrong sig­nal to in­vestors. That's not the way to en­gen­der con­fi­dence. So why do the me­dia have to al­ways get the blame when of­fi­cials are quot­ed-or put their foot in their mouth? It is ei­ther the me­dia "mis­in­ter­pret­ed" what was said or they "didn't mean it so." The time has come to stop us­ing the me­dia as a scape­goat... or even ram­goat.
