I watched the news in hor­ror Thurs­day night as Jus­tice Min­is­ter Her­bert Vol­ney glee­ful­ly ad­vised the coun­try that, to com- mem­o­rate our 50 years of in­de­pen­dence, he would be free­ing 50 pris­on­ers. Does Vol­ney con­sid­er this an in­de­pen­dence gift to the na­tion to free 50 more crim­i­nals in­to our midst? I was re­al­ly hop­ing to hear that he planned to cap­ture and in­car­cer­ate 50 crim­i­nals. That, Mr Min­is­ter, would be a com­mem­o­ra­tive gift.
