I have three con­cerns that I need to get off my chest. The first hap­pened on Fri­day when a co-work­er was hit by a ve­hi­cle in front our of­fice on St Vin­cent Street, Port-of-Spain. The po­lice were there im­me­di­ate­ly and sum­moned the am­bu­lance which took over an hour to re­spond. I find this to­tal­ly un­ac­cept­able. The sec­ond in­volves the Aussie V8 in­ter­cep­tors that were or­dered for the High­way Pa­trol, specif­i­cal­ly for high-speed pur­suits and pa­trols on the high­ways. In­stead, they are be­ing used by po­lice to dri­ve round Port-of-Spain on er­rands etc. My third con­cern is the abuse of sirens and break­ing of traf­fic lights and ma­jor roads by po­lice when there is traf­fic and no emer­gency. Nu­mer­ous com­plain have been made but the abuse con­tin­ues.
