As a PP councillor in the Port-of-Spain City Corporation, I am calling on all involved in the proposed traffic plan to hold a meeting as soon as possible with citizens of St James and Woodbrook. There is a great deal of opposition to the planned changes and I feel the concerns should be addressed before implementation of the changes.
Burgesses are against the drastic changes soon to come into effect and are willing to stage a full protest against the plan. Some of the major issues they want addressed are: effects on commuters and businesses, heavier traffic flow on the main roads and back roads, safety to commuters, cultural impact on St James and Woodbrook, property investments, taxi routes and fares. I am pleading for this situation to be dealt with before it gets out of hand.
