Open letter to Port-of-Spain Mayor Louis Lee Sing: Your traffic plan shows one-way traffic northbound on Cornelio Street. However, there are no signs or street lines indicating it is in fact one-way between Tragarete Road and Robert Street. Secondly, Baden Powell is highlighted as being a dedicated eastbound Street. However, there are again no signs or street lines indicating this when turning off French Street. Can commuters be legally charged for using these routes in the absence of proper signage?
Thirdly, there is a solid line across Stone Street when turning off Ariapita Avenue. As per regulations, solid lines across mean "no entry." Yet, there is a stop sign facing you if you turn onto Stone Street.
Please clarify these issues, Mr Mayor. As a daily commuter on these routes, may I suggest that you have the traffic lights adjusted during rush hour on mornings and afternoons. This should ease the congestion on Wrightson Road (both incoming and outgoing) during these peak hours. Additionally, remove the barriers bordering Wrightson Road and various side streets in Woodbrook so there would be less congestion on the major roads leading onto Wrightson Road.
