Would it be pos­si­ble to have Op­po­si­tion Leader Dr Kei­th Row­ley adopt a more pos­i­tive ap­proach to­wards the de­vel­op­ment of our na­tion? Every time he ad­dress­es the prob­lems that we face on a dai­ly ba­sis, he is call­ing to have some­one or some­thing re­moved and yet does noth­ing pos­i­tive to sug­gest a re­place­ment. Sure­ly he could an­nounce his shad­ow Cab­i­net and have those re­spon­si­ble for na­tion­al se­cu­ri­ty, health, ed­u­ca­tion etc speak out? In this way the peo­ple could de­ter­mine the di­rec­tion in which we would like to go the next time we have elec­tions.

Who for in­stance would be his na­tion­al se­cu­ri­ty min­is­ter? So why is that per­son not seen as the spokesman for the PNM on this is­sue? Is it that as prime min­is­ter Row­ley ex­pects to be the ex­pert in all fields, sti­fling the ef­forts of the oth­ers in his Cab­i­net? At least we know that Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Jack Warn­er and Port-of-Spain May­or Louis Lee Sing are in­tent on get­ting things done but all that we get from the Op­po­si­tion is neg­a­tive rather than any at­tempt to as­sist the peo­ple's Par­lia­ment in suc­ceed­ing. Grant­ed the PNM wants to re­gain pow­er but that is on­ly go­ing to hap­pen if we can look for­ward to a bet­ter T&T and not one built on threats and cor­rup­tion. As far as crime is con­cerned, we must look for­ward to the night when, as we lie down for a well-earned rest, we can say, "I did not break the law in any way to­day."
