Would it be possible to have Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley adopt a more positive approach towards the development of our nation? Every time he addresses the problems that we face on a daily basis, he is calling to have someone or something removed and yet does nothing positive to suggest a replacement. Surely he could announce his shadow Cabinet and have those responsible for national security, health, education etc speak out? In this way the people could determine the direction in which we would like to go the next time we have elections.
Who for instance would be his national security minister? So why is that person not seen as the spokesman for the PNM on this issue? Is it that as prime minister Rowley expects to be the expert in all fields, stifling the efforts of the others in his Cabinet? At least we know that National Security Minister Jack Warner and Port-of-Spain Mayor Louis Lee Sing are intent on getting things done but all that we get from the Opposition is negative rather than any attempt to assist the people's Parliament in succeeding. Granted the PNM wants to regain power but that is only going to happen if we can look forward to a better T&T and not one built on threats and corruption. As far as crime is concerned, we must look forward to the night when, as we lie down for a well-earned rest, we can say, "I did not break the law in any way today."
