Pressure for water since Ganga made minister
Making Ganga Singh the Minister in charge of water, in charge of WASA, probably had more to do with his name than for any special skill that he possesses in this regard. Ganga or the Ganges in India is not just an actual river, but it symbolises water in all its many uses.
Our minister of the same name unfortunately represents the opposite—not water pressure, but pressure for water. I live in the Buen Intento area of Princes Town and since Ganga has been given the WASA portfolio, this area is suddenly experiencing a most unreliable, intermittent supply. According to a recent WASA release, this is one of the areas scheduled for a 24/7 water supply—which we received...until the Cabinet reshuffle.
Water was disrupted on July 22 and our supply has not been restored up to the day of writing. What is worse is that nobody at WASA could offer an explanation for this disruption, because nobody knows what is happening out here. Mr Minister, try and live up to your name and see if you can sort out this problem we've been having only since your assumption of duties in this portfolio.
