The staff at the St James Med­ical Com­plex is tru­ly out­stand­ing. From the women in re­cep­tion to Dr Sashi Ramesh and his team of doc­tors (I met Drs Karim, Af­fan, Mor­ton-Git­tens and Ali), all the nurs­es, the Phle­boto­my Dept and lab techs, the chemother­a­py staff, the women who keep the place spot­less, the di­eti­cian, the drug­gists, the staff of the X-ray Dept, each one of them is friend­ly, cour­te­ous, car­ing, help­ful and con­cerned.

They re­alise that the peo­ple who go there are sick, un­cer­tain and un­sure about what is to come. I spent many hours talk­ing with oth­er pa­tients there and they all ex­pressed the same sen­ti­ments that I had. The staff there is the best. Every­one of them de­serves to know how many peo­ple be­lieve this of them.

Thanks and praise for a job well done are what are need­ed to keep peo­ple do­ing what they do. Yes, it is their job, but these staffers do it dai­ly with­out know­ing peo­ple are notic­ing. En­cour­age­ment and recog­ni­tion are the re­wards peo­ple need to car­ry on. I hope and pay that they will, through this let­ter, re­alise how many lives they have touched, and how many peo­ple pray for them dai­ly and tru­ly ap­pre­ci­ate what they con­tin­ue to do for us.
