Is there a par­lia­men­tary school in T&T? Or a school for par­lia­men­tar­i­ans who don't un­der­stand the writ­ten word? If yes, I think PNM?Sen­a­tor Faris Al-Rawi is a good can­di­date. I saw him on tele­vi­sion and he kept re­peat­ing how he wants the Gov­ern­ment to say why it de­cid­ed to ap­prove ex-gra­tia pay­ments to Cana­di­ans Dwayne Gibbs and Jack Ewats­ki, Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice and Deputy Com­mis­sion­er, re­spec­tive­ly, fol­low­ing their res­ig­na­tions. He kept car­ry­ing on that the pub­lic doesn't know and the Gov­ern­ment is stick­ing.

In the first place, an easy-to-read ex­pla­na­tion was put out by Sen­a­tor Gan­ga Singh, the act­ing At­tor­ney Gen­er­al, last Tues­day evening. It was al­so on the tele­vi­sion news and on the news­pa­pers. And it said, very clear­ly, the de­ci­sion on the ex-gra­tia pay­ments was made for three rea­sons:

• Af­ter con­sid­er­a­tion of all rel­e­vant facts.

• In keep­ing with ap­plic­a­ble in­dus­tri­al re­la­tions prac­tice.

• In keep­ing with the high­est stan­dards of gov­er­nance.

I think it's the last rea­son which has Al-Rawi stumped, since when his team was bat­ting it nev­er quite dis­played it was ca­pa­ble of that. It's time our politi­cians un­der­stand that the elec­tions are over, and that cit­i­zens like me are tired of their bick­er­ing.
