Now with all the hype and patriotism that locals have been exuding with the olympics for our athletes, I can't help but wonder why when it's all over, they will probably resort to being the discourteous beasts that some have become as is evident with their actions on the roadways especially in the Woodbrook St James areas with the new traffic plan.
I wouldn't be surprised if some of them refuse to slow down to allow Lalonde Gorden or Kelly Ann Baptise into the flow of traffic if the situation arises, but over the past week nobody waving more flag than them. Why can't we keep that patriotic spirit all year round, not only on the roads but everywhere we go. According to 3 Canal's song, what's so hard in saying "Morning neighbour, morning" and just exercise the Trini spirit that used to be the envy of the rest of the world?
For the traffic plan and generally the improvement of our attitudes, we need to be more loving, and genuinely caring towards each other and show courtesy where it is due. We are celebrating fifty years of Independence and apparantly giving the impression to the reast of the world that we are moving backwards as a nation. As the lyrics to a popular kaiso collaboraton goes "now is the time - to show some unity now is the time - to help humanity Yes - NOW IS THE TIME"
