ANR Robin­son was part of the gov­ern­ment of this coun­try's first prime min­is­ter, Dr Er­ic Williams. He part­ed ways and was very piv­otal in the pol­i­tics of To­ba­go. He then be­came Prime Min­is­ter of T&T, al­so oc­cu­py­ing that po­si­tion at the time of the 1990 coup at­tempt. His sup­port af­ter the 17-17-2 elec­tion re­sult caused Bas­deo Pan­day to be­come the first In­do-Trinida­di­an prime min­is­ter, and as pres­i­dent he al­so re­moved Pan­day and ap­point­ed Patrick Man­ning as prime min­is­ter once more. Whether he had an im­pact on the vic­to­ry of the present gov­ern­ment is any­body's guess. Arthur Napoleon Ray­mond Robin­son is by far the most in­flu­en­tial per­son in this coun­try over the last 50 years.
