All Olympic athletes should share in glory

Congratulations are definitely in order to our teenage Olympic gold medallist, Keshorn Walcott. However, one thing is noticeable in reviewing world photos of returning heroes. While our gold medallist received the highest reward from his nation compared with other competitors, it is rather sad to note that, quite correctly, almost all other countries gave their returning competitors (winners or not) a share in the heroes’ return. Let’s face it, each and every competitor is a hero for the nation they represented. It is an honour just to make the Olympic team. I know for a fact that George Bovell Jr, for a start, competed. Perhaps the powers that be could remember this fact when the next Olympics comes around.
