I totally enjoyed the article Remember When.... in your Sunday Guardian by Vernon Khelawan who is the media relations officer of the Catholic Media Services Ltd. The article addressed the many changes in the Catholic Church between 1962 and present day. Khelawan listed 21 items but I am almost sure, given further thought, we can identify at least another 29 to make it an even 50.?On reading the list to my family we noted that a very glaring omission was the reduction in the numbers of Catholic families attending mass from 1962.
As the writer noted: "These are some of the traditions and practices which used to be the norm 50 years ago in the archdiocese. Many of these are no longer or at most sparsely used in today's church. Whether they have disappeared for good or there is a possibility of their return, is open to speculations." Now is the appropriate time for Catholics to come home.
