The excessive noise permitted by those in authority leaves much to be desired. It is indeed unbelievable that a major event, which would host thousands of persons, would be held by authorities at the Oval. Was there any concern for health, safety, excessive noise to those around, all included, or was it just for others to benefit? The Oval catered to all ages for the 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations, was there no prior inspection done by the relevant authorities for safety measures?
Why was the event hosted at the Oval? Is it not plain common sense that this venue cannot accommodate vast crowds, the walls are not extended to keep in the noise, the parking and traffic caused by such an event and others as well is a hazard to the environs? However, the situation exists that those in authority are not abiding by the law and are indeed breaking same.
The broken bottles and debris left, the alcohol companies should be responsible, place bins along the way. The advertising which appear to degrade the young girls on the trucks, while promoting alcohol drinking, is a contributing factor to road rage and carnage, just as cigarettes are hazardous to one's health. It is amazing that cigarette advertising is controlled and alcohol advertising is rampant, again our laws.
The fireworks display at King George V was reminiscent of the Syrian distress, where smoke just billows through the air, while the excessive noise was distressing. One was unable to focus because of the thickness of the smoke. Again the authorities showed a lack of respect for thosewithin a five-mile radius.
Why, in God's name would authorities flagrantly disregard the pleas of the citizenry when celebrating events with excessive noise, as well. Also, other fete promoters, who must bellow over their systems, when hosting events at the Oval. What is the purpose of laws? Why host large events in closely populated environs? Where do we go from here, authorities? Concern for citizens basic rights is all that is needed, not showing the world we know how to party.
Our basic problem is enforcing the law for all. It is said the pen is mightier than the sword, that may need to change, but it is still the fingers that can implement change.
