Tribute to one of our great letter writers

MF Rahman understood well the value and right of a citizen to freely and fearlessly articulate his position on political, social and economic matters. He and the likes of Harry PT Charlie were significant in giving citizens the confidence that they had a right to participate in the construction of a democracy and a society.

His pen could be witty and at the same time piercing and he was never afraid to stand alone on his position. Personally, I remember the many long conversations “MF” and I had around the savannah when we talked more than walked. Farewell my friend you have done well your work on this patch of ground.
