Good day Mr. Best,
I start off by saying first and foremost, thank you for keeping followers regularly updated throughout the day with relevant information. These updates have been so timely of late, especially for myself as I am busier than usual and cannot always get the time to read the newspaper in its entirety.
That being said, I implore you, please discontinue the use of the 'hashtag' #Trinidad. I have tweeted this to the Guardian profile numerous times but I understand that with many followers, my tweets more than likely would not have caught your attention. This hashtag has been used constantly to represent information that relates to Trinidad AND Tobago. Together, we are one country. I write passionately on the matter as a patriot because it is important that we not only believe we are equal but we are also seen to be equal as well, and by "we" I mean Trinbagonian people as a whole.
Hashtagging #Trinidad only separates us more than we already try to separate ourselves and it is left up to common bonds to unite us sometimes when we forget we are one people, and I think in this case the Guardian should be that common bond. Now while this hastag of #Trinidad may tweeted with all good intention or no intention at all, simply out of habit, it is important that we are all conscious of these subtleties.
We must put a stop to the subconscious segregation and acknowledge firmly that we are one people comprised of equal parts of Tobago and Trinidad and one does not represent the other.
Further, if possible, it may create a better reputation for the newspaper if the name is changed to '@TTGuardian' from '@TriniGuardian' as I'm sure you can appreciate that the former fosters a more patriotic spirit in followers than the latter, encompassing the views of both islands.
I thank you kindly for your time and hope that you can take what I said to heart.
Continue the great work otherwise.
