Kind­ly al­low me a space in your news­pa­per to com­ment on an is­sue that has trou­bled me over the past month. I am find­ing it very dif­fi­cult to un­der­stand how is it pos­si­ble for the Pres­i­dent Gen­er­al of the Oil Work­ers Trade Union Mr.

An­cil Ro­get to be so deeply in­volve in protest ac­tions, com­men­taries, and op­po­si­tion pol­i­tics that are un­re­lat­ed to any cur­rent labour dis­pute. Is it that Mr. Ro­get has con­vert­ed the OW­TU to a po­lit­i­cal par­ty? Mr. Ro­get ap­pears to have lost sight of his du­ties and re­spon­si­bil­i­ties as the leader of the OW­TU and is now more con­cerned in hold­ing press con­fer­ences and pri­vate meet­ing with po­lit­i­cal in­ter­est groups than the well-be­ing of the mem­ber­ship of his union.

I ea­ger­ly await the op­por­tu­ni­ty to vote in the next elec­tion of of­fi­cers in the OW­TU where I will use my vote to help re­move Mr. Ro­get from his cur­rent po­si­tion. Maybe he should con­sid­er join­ing his col­league in the MSJ in their quest for po­lit­i­cal pow­er.
