Our Prime Minister, Mrs Kamla Persad-Bissessar, seemed to have forgotten that she represents a multi-racial, multicultural and multi-religious country. However she chooses to reflect charity, humility or respect to another in her private capacity, by all means is her right.
Has Mrs Kamla Persad-Bissessar forgotten that she not only represents herself but us the citizens? Many of us have recently objected to her gesture in bowing before India's President. Questions to our Prime Minister: Do every elected representative of a country bow before India's President when they meet?
Are they disrespectful by not doing so? Don't I have a right as a citizen to voice my displeasure with your gesture, and by exercising my right don't I have the right to attend any religious function or festivities of the Hindu community? Or is it compulsory that I excuse myself from any function or festivity held by the Hindu community by voicing my beliefs in a country where we all live harmoniously with our different cultures and beliefs?
