On December 16, I happened to be around the Queen's Park Savannah at about 2 pm in the vicinity of the US Embassy. I noticed a crowd of people in the Savannah and, being the inquisitive person that I am and being in no hurry, I decided to inquire into what was going on. As I drew closer I observed people in what appeared to be unusual sport gear and one even held what looked like a baseball bat.
"Baseball!" I thought to myself this cannot be since I had made some inquiries previously and was told that baseball is not played here. I started chatting with one of the guys only to realise that it was in fact a baseball game and to my disbelief there is a baseball field in the Savannah. The guys also told me that there is a Baseball Federation and the president is a man by the name of Michael Legerton, and that the existing baseball field has been there for many years. I love this game and would like very much for my kids to grow up around baseball.
It is high time that the powers that be realise the potential of baseball to bring revenue to this country and make a lot of migrant workers like myself feel very, very happy. I look forward to more on this.
