Not buying Sandy’s apology
After listening to Dr Rowley and Orville London, I really have to wonder: what does Tobago really want? Do they want self-government? A fair share of the national budget? A hospital, a library, a bus shed? Is it that the Government must put the legislative agenda on hold for the election?
How could it be obscene to give Tobago 6.9 per cent of the national budget? They have always asked for it. The PNM is ranting about vulgarity, obscene haste, and the whole dictionary of desperate terms to distract from the performance of the Government. Why don’t they explain why the hospital took so long and cost so much?
If they have proof, like Mr. Manning did of the Prime Minister’s home, produce the proof that cucumbers and pumpkins didn’t build Mr Jack’s house. If the Government did something for Tobago before the election, its electioneering. If they do something after, they are giving Tobago charity and disrespect.
And don’t think anyone buys the apology for the boatload-from-Calcutta remarks. Mr Sandy just says what the mind of the PNM and its minions has been pregnant with since the days of Basdeo Panday.
