Politics can be very exciting, but intelligent politics, including the Calcutta statement, will bring positive results and it showed in the THA elections. Whether it instilled fear or not is just a spin. The statement was made but the response was very poor, and it seems the TOP campaign lacked thought, planning and counter-strategy, preferring instead a straight cavalier execution.
Even the debate showed the TOP leader was not fully prepared and his response to the acquisition of his house also was not acceptable as he did not show even five acres of cultivated land. The media were informing publicly what was on the ground but were dismissed and instead attacked.
Politicians continue to exercise arrogance and haughtiness whenever they smell and taste power. Citizens cannot access their MPs and worse, ministers, and if you do get lucky, you may not be among the favoured. Frontline spokesmen are repugnant with arrogance and contempt for others.
None other than the Prime Minister would know that winning can be contagious and should keep an ear close to the ground and know how people are treated by Government and party officials because even if the alternative is not up to standard and the people want to reject you, they will.
