Mayor Louis Lee Sing does not fool me nor anyone else. It is plain to see that the plans for the King George V parking lot are not about the people.
It is enough of a travesty that a certain hospital is allowed to rent part of it as a car park. But to put a wall around the entire car park, propose to build a playground and then claim that it is for children is an affront to our intelligence.
Mr Lee Sing, we know very well that a certain hospital has had a role in all of this. If not, explain why, after all of these years of inaction under your tenure as mayor, does this plan suddenly fall upon us?
Some walls are built to keep people in and some to keep others out. I cannot fathom how closing off the entire car park with a wall, as opposed to the area intended for the playground, serves to protect the children who will be using the play park. I must conclude that it is meant to protect the individuals and cars of those using the car park. Please admit the truth!
Another point of contention is that we have been suffering for years with the parking problem that this hospital has been causing. It has been almost 20 years that we have been begging for some solution. Doesn't the fact that they needed to use part of the park for parking speak volumes in this regard? This facility should be subject to those same new laws that you imposed in Woodbrook that require sufficient parking for the patrons of bars and businesses on Ariapita Avenue.
