On February 5, 2013, I waited at City Gate for a bus from Port-of-Spain to San Fernando from 3.30 pm to 5.07 pm. My co-worker came to the Piarco line after leaving work at 4.30 and boarded a bus before me.Why do the south-bound passengers have to suffer every day? Why isn't someone doing something about this? There is a new dispatcher who is trying his utmost, but only so much can be done.
I heard the drivers are on a go-slow for back pay. If there is any truth to this I must say it is unfair to us, the customers, as every other week is some other story with workers.Imagine, I have to be up at 3 am and I arrive home at 6.30 pm because of public transport! If that is the case then scrap the entire transport system or bring a foreign logistics firm to manage it.
I suppose then the union will jump in and speak the usual nonsense. Without us, the passengers, there won't be a need for a transport division. And this is not the responsibility of only the Government. The union and relevant workers are responsible as well. This new dispatcher is using his initiative but he needs support.
When I thanked him he gave the praise to the drivers and others, so humble is he. Please Mr Sharma, step in as soon as possible because south people have always suffered and continue to do so, government come government go.
