I have complained to members of the cycling club who ride along the highways on Saturdays and Sundays, about the number of road lanes being occupied by the cyclists. In particular, I noted the conduct of police outriders who are hired to give cyclists protection on the roadways.
These cyclists at times occupy one to two lanes, but what makes matters worse are the police outriders who occupy the white line separating the second and third lanes, thereby literally blocking all the lanes at times. This causes users of the highway to have to come to a crawl.I have asked them to talk with the police outriders about allowing traffic to flow in the third lane.
They say they have spoken to them on numerous occasions and the answer has always been, "Don't worry we know what we are doing."It is time that the ACP for traffic gives his outriders proper escorting instructions which will include not decreasing the traffic flow for other road users.
