In a let­ter to the news­pa­pers, Trans­port Com­mis­sion­er Rueben Cato was kind enough to ex­plain the process of ap­pli­ca­tion for a taxi badge. I found it in­ter­est­ing when he said that, af­ter the ap­pli­ca­tion is sub­mit­ted, the process can take up to six weeks. It set me to won­der­ing what ex­act­ly in the ap­proval process caus­es it to take so long.

Per­haps Mr Cato would be kind enough to write an­oth­er let­ter ex­plain­ing to us what steps the ap­proval process must go through for it to take all of six weeks? And, what­ev­er the rea­sons, I sug­gest he takes the nec­es­sary ac­tion to bring this time down to one week or less.
