How many bed and breakfast homes, guest houses and small hotels have acceptable standards with regard to purchasing high quality towels, sheets and basic cutlery for the use of tourists?I have heard stories of sheets so old that they are shearing, dingy towels and generally the offering of substandard or grossly over-priced services to tourists.
The name of the tourism game is getting value for money. The international visitor, used to poorer destinations than ours having superior standards in all departments, means that we are a one-off destination. If Carrera is indeed going to be closed why not convert the entire island into an all-inclusive holiday resort? Why not offer it on lease to someone as Richard Branson of Virgin, who can afford to transform the island into something akin to Sandals?
Or is it that the PP government has a private buyer among its ranks? Carrera belongs to the state and should be leased not sold.
