The Integrity Commission should be removed from under the President of the Republic and placed under the Chief Justice so as to preserve independence, continuity and to create a more "judicious" approach to its work which it so badly needs. It should be given increased powers including the ability to subpoena witnesses, powers of search and seizure and possibly even powers of arrest.
The one thing causing all our governments to fail has been damning allegations of corruption and this one thing needs to be treated with as a front burner issue immediately if not sooner.
All activists and non-profit NGOs and all other civil society groups should join in this call, to ask the government and the opposition to work together in the interest of good governance and of the people to begin the work of drafting the required legislation in as bi-partisan a manner as possible, and passing such legislation into law as a matter of national urgency.
