I am writing on behalf of all the little children that attend the St John's Anglican Primary School in St John's Village, San Fernando. This school has been a blessing to many children over the years from St John's and the surrounding communities like Friendship Village, Golconda Village, Brontie, and Borde Narve Village.
I am begging for the Ministry of Education and Minister Goopeesingh to have compassion for our little children and please pave the school yard. Yes, the school yard–upgrade and maintenance are overdue. This school is built on an incline and at present the entire yard is uneven.
The school yard is unfit for children to occupy daily. If this was an industry, OSHA would have closed down the premises with immediate effect. But no, our innocent children have to suffer. Why? Why, Mr Minister? Save our children now. Too much red tape, cut them now. I am calling on the Minister of Education to do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. Pave the yard now!
Daily our children are being injured. By the time they all graduate each one would have been scarred by that uneven yard. Why are our children being neglected by the Minister of Education? The little ones come home in pain; knees and elbows bruised. Somebody, anybody have mercy and help our children now by paving the school yard.Where can our children play?
My God, even the adult trips continuously when they walk in that school yard, much more for children when they run.The children cannot stay locked up in a class room. The hard working principal is trying her best. I am concerned. I have five nephews and nieces attending that school and I am calling on the relevant authorities to have mercy on the Children of the St John's Anglican Primary School and pave that yard now.
I would hate to think that the Ministry of Education expects the school to pave itself. St John's and environs are depressed areas and the families and their children have barely sufficient to get by and are unable to financially contribute to the school for its upgrade. Please help, save our children from cuts and bruises and pave the school yard now.
