CAD­VA (The Caribbean Amer­i­can Do­mes­tic Vi­o­lence Aware­ness Group) is con­duct­ing a sur­vey on the at­ti­tudes of Caribbeans to­wards the Les­bian, Gay, Bi­sex­u­al and Trans­gen­der Com­mu­ni­ty. This sur­vey is a buildup to­wards a se­ries of ini­tia­tives planned for the sum­mer of 2014 to in­clude a Caribbean re­gion­al wide con­fer­ence on youth vi­o­lence and a work­shop on do­mes­tic vi­o­lence.

CAD­VA is ap­peal­ing to read­ers of your news­pa­per to log on to the Web site and fill out the sur­vey. The sur­vey can be ac­cessed at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1OtM­rzb­nIv8b0VcPgGG­bfe­JQVd­vn42D_nVCVlAbu­gYx8/view­form?pli=1 and takes about ten min­utes to fill com­plete.

Found­ed by do­mes­tic vi­o­lence sur­vivor, Sukree Boodram, CAD­VA has been in­volved in an on­go­ing cam­paign against all forms of vi­o­lence in both the Caribbean and North Amer­i­ca. Pre­vi­ous ac­tiv­i­ties have in­clud­ed a suc­cess­ful ral­ly–Break the Si­lence–in 2010 and the high­ly ac­com­plished In­ter­na­tion­al Youth Con­fer­ence in Guyana last year. This year CAD­VA's ac­tiv­i­ties will be con­duct­ed in T&T and Haiti.

For the 2014 ini­tia­tives, CAD­VA is invit­ing en­ti­ties and in­di­vid­u­als in­ter­est­ed in col­lab­o­rat­ing or part­ner­ing to con­tact CAD­VA at help@cad­va.org. In­di­vid­u­als and or­gan­i­sa­tions are al­so in­vit­ed to send ideas and sug­ges­tions.
