Af­ter see­ing the treat­ment that Jack Warn­er re­ceived, I am of the firm be­lief that we are tru­ly an un­grate­ful peo­ple. A few years ago when T&T's So­ca War­riors played against Bahrain and won in their fi­nal qual­i­fi­er match for the World cup in Ger­many, every­one was in a state of fren­zy. You would have sworn it was Car­ni­val all over again.

At that point, Jack Warn­er was the "peo­ple's cham­pi­on."He was per­haps the most loved man in T&T back then. This man was re­spon­si­ble for putting T&T on the world map, as we were the small­est is­land to ever play at the FI­FA world cup.Skip ahead to 2013: scores of al­le­ga­tions, I re­peat, al­le­ga­tions are spewed from this very body, FI­FA, and now we here in T&T have cho­sen to cru­ci­fy him for it.

I was stunned to hear in Par­lia­ment, Op­po­si­tion Leader Dr Kei­th Row­ley re­fer to FI­FA as a "mafia." How can a man who as­pires to some day be the prime min­is­ter of this coun­try make such a state­ment? Fur­ther­more, if he be­lieves that FI­FA is a so-called "mafia" then why should he be­lieve any­thing that is in their re­port?Now, this same man who FI­FA has cho­sen to per­se­cute chose to take the high ground and apol­o­gise on Dr Row­ley's be­half for such an id­i­ot­ic state­ment.

I am a con­stituent of Ch­agua­nas West and I can vouch for Warn­er's cred­i­bil­i­ty. He is with­out a doubt the best rep­re­sen­ta­tive this con­stituen­cy and, if I may go out on a limb and say, this coun­try has ever seen.

Since his en­try in­to pol­i­tics and even be­fore, Warn­er has been a much-loved per­son and the view of us, the con­stituents of Ch­agua­nas West, is that he is even more so to­day. I will be first in line at my polling sta­tion on the day of the by-elec­tion, pa­tient­ly wait­ing to cast my vote for Warn­er. My the­o­ry is if it isn't broke, don't try to fix it. He has served us well and per­haps oth­er MPs on both sides of the po­lit­i­cal di­vide can take a page from his book.

It will be to the UNC's detri­ment to not se­lect him as their can­di­date of choice and I say this be­cause I, too, am a UNC sup­port­er.How­ev­er, where Warn­er goes, I go too. I have seen him take care of us like a fa­ther fig­ure and he is the man to get the job done! If he con­tests the elec­tion in­de­pen­dent­ly and beats the Part­ner­ship's can­di­date, it will on­ly prove that the peo­ple have no faith in the PP but they do have faith in Mr Warn­er.

The peo­ple of Ch­agua­nas West will re­ject any rep­re­sen­ta­tive who is not Jack Warn­er. So for the sake of the coun­try and the UNC alike, bring back Jack!
