I am 33 years old and a moth­er of two beau­ti­ful daugh­ters, ages 13 and sev­en, re­spec­tive­ly. I cur­rent­ly re­side at my par­ent's home in Laven­tille. I ap­plied for a three-bed­room sin­gle fam­i­ly unit with Hous­ing De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion pre­de­ces­sor Na­tion­al Hous­ing Au­thor­i­ty ap­prox­i­mate­ly 13 years ago. My ref­er­ence num­ber is 37312-QAK-YWJ and 37312-GEQ-TKG. I al­so ap­plied for the Land for the Land­less pro­gramme in De­cem­ber, 2012.

It is with a heavy heart that I pen this let­ter ow­ing main­ly to the fact that I ap­plied for a house so many years ago and I sit and watch as peo­ple who would have just ap­plied and af­ter two and three years have re­ceived hous­es. I was al­so tak­en aback af­ter writ­ing to all the nec­es­sary agen­cies a few years ago when the roof of my moth­er's house blew off and was told that a per­son from the so­cial wel­fare de­part­ment would vis­it me and an in­ves­ti­ga­tion would be launched to see if I qual­i­fy for ur­gent hous­ing. To date that has nev­er hap­pened.

I went to HDC and en­quired and was told the per­son who was as­signed left the job and no one else was ap­point­ed to con­duct the in­ves­ti­ga­tion. I even met per­son­al­ly with Ms Jear­lean John who told me that she would ap­point some­one in her wel­fare de­part­ment to in­ves­ti­gate my ap­pli­ca­tion. To date I have nev­er been con­tact­ed. My vis­its to HDC proved fu­tile since the on­ly in­for­ma­tion I re­ceived af­ter sit­ting for long pe­ri­ods is that I am await­ing se­lec­tion.

I am to­tal­ly frus­trat­ed and sad­dened by this be­cause I have sent out many let­ters and vis­it­ed both HDC and So­cial Wel­fare De­part­ment and I would con­tin­ue to do so un­til my voice is heard.

I re­al­ly don't know who again to ask for help see­ing that I have writ­ten to al­most every­one in light of my plea. I pray day and night that some­one would hear my cry and help me to be able to own my home. I at­tempt­ed to pur­chase a house in the pri­vate sec­tor but I can­not af­ford the re­quired down pay­ment and have been re­fused by the fi­nan­cial in­sti­tu­tions.
