I am writing as a resident of the St Joseph constituency to express my concern over what may be evidence or coincidence of a disturbing conspiracy involving key government representatives and possibly the head of government. My concern results from the e-mails presented by Dr Keith Rowley during his no confidence motion on Monday.
It is frightening to think that this is the way the government conducts its business and deals with challenging situations. The allegations of offering promotions to people to get favours, threats of taking away business from media houses, defaming people and wire tapping independent office holders are terrifying.
It would be devastating to think that our St Joseph member of Parliament Herbert Volney was used as a scapegoat for the Section 34 fiasco. After being fired from his ministry and being left as MP without the support of his party, the constituency has suffered tremendously.
Another point that hit me like a full bus was the derogatory language used in these e-mails to describe the woman in question. I cannot believe that any public figure would view a woman in this way. Unless we see each other as equals and treat each other with the respect we would like for ourselves and family members, our society is going to suffer.
For the record, I would like to think that there was some mix up with these e-mails and this is not the behaviour of our government. However, if these e-mails are authentic, the officials involved should resign and do some serious introspection. The citizens of this country continue to hope that when our leaders campaign on change that it will be change for the better.
