We are constantly compared to Singapore with regard to size followed by a comparison of our economies and when I heard Dr Job this morning bemoaning the fact that Dr Gopeesingh has not been able to get a hold on our present situation with regard to education, I suddenly remembered that Mr Lee Kuan Yew handled this problem by restricting families to two children thereby holding the number of schools at a reasonable amount–the schools also had flexible hours–all requiring a fair amount of discipline which is possibly our biggest problem.
No one can deny that Dr Williams did our nation a disservice by spreading out all of our good teachers thereby diluting the entire system. Progress does not come overnight we need to control ourselves and work together for the good of T&T.
Experts say that the criminal element grows out of a community of violence and neglect and that what is required is for parents to be observant as to the habits of their children and be prepared to correct them when necessary (not by violence). Can we honestly say that we attempt to do this? The rights of our citizens cannot be questioned but their dedication to building a nation can be. Bump up the volume nah.
