Politicians in general can be accused of contributing to the level of disruption in the Beetham and Laventille areas as many of their promises cannot be fulfilled. The many recommendations made to deal with crime and lawlessness in those areas, have not included the strict enforcement of the law and the level of discipline needed where those people should take responsibility for their behaviour which was depicted on the front page of a daily newspaper.
I am sorry granny but that photo is not a lie, and as elderly people in any community, restraint and discretion is required so the younger ones can be guided accordingly. When individuals fling their jackets to the floor in Parliament and others disrupt the president while he is speaking, what do they expect from their followers?
These people must realise that they are a part of T&T and have a duty like all others, to make it a better place, and if they continue to provide a safe haven for crooks and thieves and bandits who call themselves gangsters and dons, and have their future generations contaminated by such, then they will have to accept that it can only end in jail or six feet under.
They must ask themselves in earnest if this is how they prefer to live or to look at the opportunities offered by successive governments. Soon the entire budget allocation to national security, sports and social services will be spent on them without any change. They are demanding sustainable and high paying jobs and may now have an opportunity by sending their applications to DOMA.
The more we feel sorry for them and make excuses for their cantankerous behaviour is the more they would remain so. Their future rests with themselves.
