It is sad to see on the newspapers that you visited the scene of the oil spill almost one week after the fact.So sad. So sad because you claim corporate responsibility and good governance but such a calamity and no emergency, no sense of urgency on your part or anyone from Petrotrin to get moving quickly.
How can you talk about compensation before you know the facts? Was it a spill or dump from a ship? Or a pipeline from some other company? Or maybe someone was siphoning our oil offshore and made a boo-boo. If it is not us then surely we have a lawsuit to file on behalf of the citizens. Get the facts first before the politician in you speak first.
Where is the OWTU? Surely they could have shown good management and care for their "bread and butter" to help. Make an urgent appeal to your members for volunteers. This is your country and coastline too. I call on Eco Warriors and all Environmental groups to head out with "dawn" liquid and bathe all those birds because they will die if left in the oil.
Mr Minister make a national appeal to all school children to come to the coast to help in the clean up. That is good for them. Let them learn about the environment.Fishermen and villagers, is only money you all know?Come on man, mobilise the villagers to do their part. The Government can only do so much. What if they do nothing? Would you all also do nothing?
