The National Library Service of T&T (Nalis) has a beautiful advertisement in the national newspapers suggesting that library users can now download e-books anywhere, anytime.I, however, have just learned that this is not really true. A librarian at the Scarborough Library (temporarily located at Signal Hill for the last 14 years!) told me Friday that the new e-Book Service "is only in Trinidad."Is it not reasonable to expect the Tobago House of Assembly to contact Nalis and conduct whatever complex, high-level negotiations are necessary in order that library users in Tobago be included in the new e-Book service? If you give this subject a moment's thought you will be puzzled as to how this could have happened in the first place.
