Despite a notice in the daily papers about the use of fireworks, the use of such at the Hyatt fete on the evening of February 26, was a thoughtless and inconsiderate act as the display was unnecessarily loud and long. I have never heard such loud fireworks in my life. I was jolted out of sleep at 1 am by thunderous noises which sounded like canon fire, and it took me a while to figure out what it was. This noise went on for a full 15 minutes and it was a while before I could get back to sleep.
During that time my dog was frantic.Did the management not realise that there were sleeping residents in the surrounding areas like Woodbrook, Newtown and St James and even further afield to whom the fireworks would sound like it was taking place in their backyards? Even sleeping hotel guests at the Hyatt and Capital Plaza would not appreciate this disturbance.Come on, Hyatt, you can certainly do better than that. Just because its Carnival does not mean that anything goes.
