What is all this venomous diatribe being attributed to the Prime Minister regarding her insistence on keeping the current officer holder as Attorney General despite the latest imbroglio? We must pause and not be hasty to judge! The Prime Minister is the holder of undergraduate and graduate degrees in history, law and business management respectively and was awarded the title Senior Counsel. Moreover, she is "first among equals" (Prime Minister).
Has anyone stopped to ponder on the fact that the learned Prime Minister after much thought had decided to keep the albatross around her neck largely because, with the countless missteps and indiscretions of her administration, she knows she will only serve one term? She probably sought legal opinions which told her to seek solace in being a one-term head of government, and as such, maintain things as they are.
Given her sterling academic background, she probably wants her term in office to be remembered as an instructive one–all the things that good governance is not, and what her successors should strive not to be.The brazen decadence exhibited surpasses all her predecessors' misdeeds–O'Halloran, Prevatt, Ish/Steve, Calder Hart. What other conclusions can one draw? Manning kept the albatross Calder Hart and his faith in Mr Hart led to his fate.
Let us also leave the other factions of the coalition, especially the pinnacle and embodiment of morality, the leader of the COP, whose moral conscience is probably in hibernation or on a professional sabbatical as they wait to exit office in 11 months knowing their political demise is fated–to the political dungeon of the deep black sea!I want the COP leader who is the convenient voice of morality to remember the following given the latest fiasco:
"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out–Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out–Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out–Because I was not a Jew.Then they came for me–and there was no one left to speak for me."
