Is it not a marvellous thing that a man of such substance, having served in such lofty capacities, can now confess how wrong he was in attributing blame for the declaration of the now infamous piece of legislation to one who would have always claimed innocence on the matter?
Is such a confession not laudable, considering the passion and conviction that attended the original accusation, and would it not be a travesty if the biblical tenet that "the meek shall inherit the earth" does not apply to this act of humility with the confessor being rewarded with a piece of this island Earth in some form or fashion? And who says this will not be the case from all the rumours circulating? Never mind that the mystique will always remain of how such a "fine mind" could apportion blame to the undeserving.
One understands how malice begets malice, that if one would have partnered with others in wrong-doing, but was singled out for persecution, that his reaction can be as vindictive as above, but a little thought would have made him aware of the lofty purpose he was serving, being the sacrificial lamb in the national interest, protecting his superiors who would otherwise have been culpable!
Not forgetting, of course, the vindication the aggrieved must now feel over this confession, and correspondingly, that sense of guilt that the body politic must now be experiencing for apportioning guilt to the innocent.
It's their fault though, for are they not aware of the synonymity between a politician and a liar? But to return to the aggrieved, if even the latter was less than effusive in accepting an apology from his accuser at the public confession, considering the trauma he must have experienced for being so misrepresented, should he not now feel elated over the boost his flagging image and credibility will now experience as a result of this public exoneration.
All's well that ends well, considering that the accuser himself stands to benefit from this kiss and make-up with either an ambassadorial posting or use of his services, as reported!
