It was a very good idea to form the rapid response unit in the police service but there are lots of teething problems officers face working in this unit. These need to be addressed in the shortest possible time. For instance, there are no proper facilities to perform their duties eg, lockers, firearms, stationery, photocopiers. Also there is a manpower shortage.
The biggest one of them all, however, is the need for a better compensation package to compensate for the extra hours of work beyond 40 hours per week. There is no proper explantation about same. Why not compensate the officers by way of a commuted allowance? This will solve the problem.
