This is an open letter to the chairman of the PTSC.
On July 26, at approximately 7.35 pm, the driver of an Arima bus was very disrespectful to the commuters who were waiting in the line for the 7.00 pm bus for Arima.
This driver deliberately parked the bus away from the passengers so they would not enter the bus; he then walked away because the crowd was agitated at his tardiness. This driver then left the compound for about 15 minutes; when he came back, he then went to a dispatcher; he then came and changed the Arima sign on the bus to a Chaguanas sign, and left all the Arima passengers standing there.
And I think that was disrespectful to the commuters who were standing there for almost an hour. These are citizens of this country and should be treated with respect. He came late with the bus and was unapologetic to the commuters.
These drivers have to understand that this is public transport–and not their private vehicle. Imagine, some of the commuters had to go and take maxis. I was one of those people who left. These drivers need to be trained in human and public relations, to deal with the public in a dignified manner. We are not second-class citizens. We are taxpayers too.
