I plead guilty to succumbing to the dumb and blind acceptance, like many other Trinbagonians, of poor service, non-provision of basic amenities and the utter contempt shown by those in authority to the citizenry, without a murmur. The reason for this lethargy is an ingrained feeling of impotence. Where we go do? There is nothing we can do to change the status quo. Who we go put? We are bereft of honourable choices. They doh listen to we. The powers that be do not hearken to the wishes of the multitude.
I awoke from my slumber as the result of a second incident. Ergo, I pen this letter. This is from a senior citizen.I went to the offices of the Elections and Boundaries Commission, Arima, in May 2014 to renew my ID card; arrived at 10.45 am and left at 2.15 pm (plenty bench-scrubbing, eh?) Asking for toilet facillities proved negative so I had to repair twice to the Arima Market. (A good walk)
Secondly, on my visit on August 13, 2014, to CAL's office, Piarco, after an hour's wait I was again informed that there were no toilet facilities for the public. These are two taxpayer-funded entities catering for many citizens on a daily basis, without bathroom facilities. On my two visits there were toddlers present.
Must we accept this from a country that can afford to give away $34 million for no work done?
