I am Trinbagonian and I frequent Tobago for some much needed R&R, so I make it my business to concern myself with the affairs of Tobago.Honestly, autonomy for Tobago should be a far thought for citizens and the Government if the Orville London's THA is in charge of the island. I read with dismay Mr London's comments on Tobago's budget allocation of around $3.7 billion dollars as being "same ole, same old."
I would like to ask Mr London why, ten years later, the Scarborough library is not fit to be opened for the public? Why are there cost overruns to the tune of millions for the Shaw Park cultural complex? Why was it necessary to rent housing accommodation for $45,000 a month? Why renovations to the official residence is costing $5 million instead of the planned $1 million? Why isn't there any Auditor General reports for the THA since 2006?
The question is not why Tobago's budget has remained "same old, same old," the question is why Tobago has remained "same old, same old" after numerous billion-dollar budgets for such a small island?
