There is no reason for Maraval to have traffic as the solution has been known for years. What we need is the political will to have the needs of the many put ahead of the desires of the few.Imagine driving to and from Maraval with this as a traffic plan:
Make Rapsey street one-way heading east, past Ellerslie Park though Federation Park, across Barbados Road. Make Long Circular Road from what is now the traffic light intersection one-way heading north, around and past Saddle Road, though Boissierre and finishing at what is now the Rapsey Street/Boissierre traffic lights.
With this plan there is no reason for traffic to stop and both sets of traffic lights can be removed.Traffic coming out of Saddle Road will filter into the continuous flow of traffic, keeping left to head to the Savannah and beyond, or filtering right to go through St Clair to Long Circular Road, St James, and beyond. Not even a single backhoe is required. Some street signs and press ads and voila–no more traffic backed up to Santa Cruz.
Lower Maraval Residents Association, here is something worthwhile to fight for that can solve most if not all your problems.
