Apparently there was a town meeting recently at which the Transport Commissioner, among others, attended. He is reported to have said, when questioned about bribery and corruption at the Licensing Office that, (I'm paraphrasing), all such accusations should be reported and that matters would be dealt with by him according to the law.The authorities very well know that corruption is rampant at that office. They continue to do nothing about it.
Case in point. It took me almost nine months and ten visits to have a transaction completed. The fact is that I could have paid $500 and got it done in a day.The place is a disaster and a national disgrace. The workers there treat people like dogs. It was one of the most dehumanising experiences I have ever had.
Year after year, minister after minister keep talking about a new system by some Canadian company that will allow you to be out of there within 15 minutes. I remember when Colm Imbert as he became a Minister, making the same promises that Stephen Cadiz is now mouthing.Stephen Cadiz, the Transport Commissioner et al, should be ashamed to preside over this monstrosity.
