For some of us differently qualified folks, we met the criterion of falling into either middle or lower income bracket and as such qualified for homes designed for such people, whether it was single-dwelling, apartment, duplex or condominium.Excluding the single-dwelling unit, the alternate homes are managed, controlled and administered by management committees.
Since March of this year the housing development compound where I live, located on El Dorado Road, Tunapuna, has had no such committee. Some of the residents postulate this as permission to do what they want and adopt a "nobody could tell me what to do attitude."Imagine returning home from a long day at work, with a migraine, a preschooler in tow, and an aged grandmother at home–to the sounds of bass and vibration from the next door neighbour's music sound system! What am I to do? Ignore them? It doesn't always work. It isn't always an option.
The measures mandated by the higher authorities have been disabled; there is no one or nowhere to turn to for some level of redress from this malicious behaviour. So for Christmas this year, it is my wish to uncover ways of rectifying this problem, finding a solution or challenging the status quo.I do anticipate that there is a more responsible and effective way to exist peacefully.
