This is an open letter to the Minister of Transport on a situation that exists at the corner of Luis Street and Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain. This corner is a dead end and on the left side on Wrightson Rd, a National Insurance Office is situated. With so few of these offices in the city, the ones that are open to the public are nearly always crowded. It's not the standing and waiting is the problem, but getting to this office by car.
The road is a normal residential one and those who are referred to this office must park on it. At the end of the road, on the left, there is a private car park that seldom has an attendant, which we are apparently free to use. The street is crowded with parked cars and there is a constant stream of cars squeezing through to the end with no place to turn, to park or to move–a jam session with no resolution.
May I humbly suggest that:
1) the barriers at the end be removed so there can be free passage or,
2) that the NIS office be removed at the behest of Mr Watson Duke, to a more accessible place for those who have to reach by car.
Someone else may have a better solution to this annoying situation.
