It is a shame that this young batsman in Australia had to lose his life in such a tragic manner. I send my condolences.I must however add my personal comment, since no one elsewhere seems to be really bothered about the cause of such disaster in the game of cricket. There are many historic cricketers such as Grace, Bradman, Peter May and Dennis Compton. They all survived without any serious injuries throughout their playing careers.
The basic idea is that of a bowler trying to knock three stumps down or apply a skilled technique in bowling so the batsman could be caught out. The game survived this basic method of procedure for decades.
A new element however, was introduced and approved by cricket's administrators where the batsman became the main target, not the stumps; thus the introduction of helmets, offering a false sense of security to the batsman, who has to use his wits to prevent being injured by the hard leather ball hurled towards him.
It is about time cricket organisations consider returning to the rules of the old days of playing cricket, dump the helmets and disallow the excessive speeding fast balls being delivered to batsmen. It may in the future lead to no more loss of lives of any batsman through his having to attempt to play possibly bullet-like death deliveries.
