It was really exciting to see one of our very own hotels being featured on Wheel of Fortune this week! As my grandmom saw and heard the Blue Waters Inn hotel being mentioned as a prize on the popular game show, she literally shouted in glee. I too got really giddy just at the mention of our sister isle on the programme! Plus it was nice seeing that our islands are still very desirable in spite of some of the recent negatives we've had to deal with.
I mean, it was a pretty big deal for one of our very own businesses to be mentioned on a show seen by millions. Of course, it's great advertising and a reminder that Caribbean tourism is not just about Jamaica or Barbados. We have such a perfect location and we offer more than just sun, sea and sand. But we have to maximise the potential in all areas, which I'm sure we will do.
The Tourism Development Company's (TDC) office in the US did an excellent job in promoting the hotel and of course the natural beauty of Tobago. I really hope we see more "wins" like this for T&T because we have so much to offer.
I wanna say a big thanks to the Ministry of Tourism for its part in continuing to highlight how amazing our islands are. It's also proof that our government continues to focus on other ways to bring revenue into the country, outside of depending on oil and gas.
Something that may seem so small is actually quite significant for us. The North American market is enormous and with some more persistence we can make a bigger dent in it. I'm looking forward to seeing what future initiatives the TDC has planned for us and I know they'll be awesome.
