With regard to the Prime Minister's address to the nation on planned Government strategies to deal with anticipated economic challenges because of the post Budget fall in oil and gas prices, we are still waiting. It would appear that all we needed was another billboard reading "You have nothing to fear, your Prime Minister is here." It would have saved the loss of valuable prime time advertising space.
Was there no one at her "political home" to advise the Prime Minister that she could not leave home so inadequately dressed in political see-through nonsense? The Partnership government did nothing but expose this country to global ridicule. The four corners of the earth now know that capacity for true governance in T&T is at an unprecedented low.
Our Prime Minister may have best been advised by the top SEA student of 2014. In one of the better television advertisements, we see a brilliant child who achieved top marks in the country because she had a plan. The country awaits the "political carfax" that will persuade us to vote. Are we going to re-elect a government that is either afraid, or worse "clueless," about how to face up to economic crises? Where is the Government's plan?
Consider this parallel tragedy. On the same day of the highly awaited prime ministerial address to the nation, we are fed the information that thousands of illegal squatters will be given certificates of comfort and/or re-location.When can tax payers be intelligently advised how to deal with a serious, global economic crises? Where can we find comfort? We are instead fed words that will have no credence beyond 72 hours, each time there are announcements of further falls in oil prices.
This Partnership government continues to be more adept at manufacturing its own political coffin nails for 2015.
